Estec Photo Club

We all need inspiration from time to time. One way to get inspired is by reading about photography, going through tutorials, and visiting photo blogs and photo exhibitions. Here is our collection of photography resources.

Books
The books of the Photo Club are now hosted by the ESTEC Book Club (access via ESA Intranet) "Leisure Library" located at ESCAPE. They are kept on a separate shelf, where they can be borrowed by the members of the club on presentation of the ESTEC badge (the EBC desk has a list of our club's members).
Magazines
A wide selection of international digital magazines available including photography ones, in multiple languages through the Press Reader service. They can be accessed either via the Press Reader website or viewed on a Press Reader app. Four or five magazines can be downloaded per day free (sponsored by ESA) to your device while connected to the ESA WiFi network, and can be viewed later off line (anywhere).

In addition to the above, the Club subscribes to Black&White magazine, which can be borrowed by members of the photo club.

If you would like to borrow these magazines, please contact Nikolaos Toptsidis.

Old issues of American Photography magazine (discontinued) and Photographie magazine (in German) are available to members. If you would like to borrow them, please contact Nicolas Girault.

Print services etc
For print services (updated 1 Dec 2016)

Web

Offline

  • Hafo - Wagenstraat 67, 2512 AR Den Haag
  • Foto Américaine - Wagenstraat 41, 2512 AP Den Haag
  • Photshop in Wassenaar: NOT recommended. Too expensive, and they would apply some sharpening and color enhancement without you asking for it.
  • Kodak Print Station @ v.d.Horst Leiden

There are several good shops around including silver films, black & white photographic papers and chemicals for the dark room:

In Katwijk:

Combi Kruyt

Kerkstraat 9, 2225 Katwijk

Tel: 071 4012851

Mainly Ilford films and papers. They can order quickly from other shops.

In Noordwijk:

www.nicovanderhorst-foto.nl

They always have a decent stock of Ilford and AGFA paper available and almost the full range of Amaloco/Ilford/ etc... chemicals.

It is still a very good "shop with walls"

In Rotterdam:

Foka www.foka.nl in R'dam has been recommended by Pietro as having

lower prices (than Konijnenberg).

In Oostzaan:

Fotoflits www.fotoflits.nl in Oostzaan has, predictably, a good choice of studio equipment

Online Shops:

www.fotokonijnenberg.nl

Foto Konijnenberg is Roberto’s favourite for shopping on line and it has an excellent reputation.

tweakers.net/pricewatch

Good price comparison website with direct links to online stores and list of final price including delivery. Works great for digital cameras, lenses etc.
